I send friend requests to women after I've read their bio and browsed their gallery. My intentions are to try to get to know her if she accepts. I figure that if she accepts the request, then she's at least halfway interested. I feel like it's more appropriate to go that route, as opposed to jumping straight into her inbox like everyone else. That's not to say that I don't go straight to messaging sometime. So let me ask you this, what's the best way to start up a conversation with a woman I'm interested in? What's the proper etiquette? I don't wanna come off crass, and I also don't wanna sound dry and generic. What's your opinion on that subject?

The ones on my friends list are people I've talked with, blogged with(and enjoy their blogs)..or messaged more than a random one time. It's people who's opinions and thoughts I respect. I just delete the random ones that come out every week. " I refuse to belong to any organization that would accept me as a member" Groucho Marx

My friends list is blocked. I have one, Plato, cause he is so nice and not a dweeb. I know some are just collectors. Is it true standards can read your profile if they are a friend?

Yeah, I don't like when out of the blue a woman will request to be an online friend when I don't know a thing about them. Thoughts from the Garden...

Since standard members cannot request friend status, I can understand your concerns, BUT, non-standard members have PAID for that status, and have to continue to PAY with points to make such requests. Or at least single males do, we all know that if you list as a female or couple, the rules are different. But, surprise, I get a few friend requests myself, and almost always if we have had any previous online contact, I accept. BUT, as a standard, I still cant see their profiles even if we have mutual friend status. Members who are willing to pay to be your friend, hmmm, gotta wonder at the value of such a 'friend"

My friends list is made up of those people I can trust not to shit on a "friends only" post. Not that I do that many of them, but I like having a group of intelligent people who can have reasonable conversation and offer helpful, relevant advice when I do.

I won't accept friend requests unless we've talked via IM or corresponded a bit. If a man would like to find me again, he could always hotlist me, then talk when he has the time/hasn't used up his daily basic allotment.
